The court will order a Anger Management Evaluation on most arrests involving violence or fights in McHenry County. Direct Counseling can perform these evaluations and treatment for the courts. The evaluation consists of two clinical appointments of 30-60 minutes each, testing and a review of the police report. A corroborative contact may be needed in some cases to verify the information presented. The cost of the entire evaluation is $150.00 and is payable at the first appointment.
We will attempt to arrange your next appointment at a time that is convenient for all concerned. You will need to bring a copy of you Police Report to the second appointment. Please contact your attorney for this copy and it can be faxed to the office in advance if you wish.
During the first appointment, we will be discussing the arrest, prior legal difficulties and a complete alcohol and drug use history. The alcohol and drug use history is to rule in or rule out alcohol or drugs as a problem.
| The second appointment will be regarding anger, control and abusive behavior possible in relationships and families. We need to ask a significant amount of questions to get the information necessary to make a clinical judgment and we do not ask questions without a clinical reason.
These are sensitive areas and your cooperation is greatly appreciated. The completed evaluation will be ready two or three business days after your last appointment and we will need to set up a pick up time for you to read and understand the contents of the evaluation. It will be your responsibility to provide the court and your attorney with a copy of the evaluation.
The recommendations of the evaluation will be explained to you when you pick up the evaluation. In McHenry County , defendants usually receive a 16 week to 26 week program but the exact length will be determined by the evaluation.
The counseling program meets during the week, at times that are convenient. The program is "pay as you go", with small payments each week.
